Shocking news reveals unsettling data concerning divorce in the US. It has been noticed that the divorce rate has been greatly impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. FormsPal has been compiling data from users creating divorce settlement agreements on the website. The data was gathered anonymously to build the statistics for Divorce in the US. FormsPal is a website for legal forms.

The divorce rate is significantly rising due to the impact of COVID-19. The rising trend that started in 2020 is still increasing. The exact impact of COVID-19 is yet to be evaluated, said Mike Chappell, co-founder of FormsPal. It has been discovered that more than 2,000 divorce settlement agreement forms were analyzed by the team. Interesting insights were gathered regarding the current divorce situation in the U.S.

An insurance policy that amounts to $421,375 was carried by around 53% of the divorcing parties compared to the amount of $380,934 with 48% in 2020. Around 60% of the people who filed for divorce have been married for not more than a year. This was 55% in 2020. The marriages in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Oklahoma have been severely hit. Almost all southern states have experienced a spike in the divorce rate more than other states of the U.S.

There was a 21% increase in divorce agreements by couples in 2021 compared to 2020. COVID-19 has triggered this trend. Another disturbing fact reveals around 7% of the divorcing Americans were not able to withstand marriage for even a month in 2021.
